Code of Ethics & Conflict of Interest

Non-Discrimination Policy

New Castle Prism Initiative, and any individual members of the organization are committed to inclusion and non-discrimination policies. The organization and members do not and shall not discriminate internally or externally on the basis of any diversity or inclusion markers. This includes but may not be limited to: race, color, religion, gender identity, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. Anyone found in violation of this policy will be dismissed without opportunity for appeal.  If you believe either the organization itself or one of its members has discriminated against you for any of these protected identities, please contact Trevor Priesel. A thorough investigation will be launched, as we take these claims very seriously.

Sexual Misconduct & Harassment

New Castle Prism Initiative, and any individual members of the organization will not foster an environment of sexually predatory or harassing behavior towards any individual or group internally or externally. The organization does not allow actions deemed as sexual misconduct or harassment. New Castle Prism Initiative defines sexual misconduct as any sexual or intimate behavior, verbal or physical, that occurs without expressed consent from the other party. Sexual misconduct may also include but isn’t limited to the abuse of power within a sexual relationship. New Castle Prism Initiative defines sexual harassment as a continued or recurrent act of sexual misconduct. Directors are not permitted to enter into a sexual or intimate relationship with the individuals that report to them. All members of New Castle Prism Initiative are encouraged to use their best judgement, or refrain entirely from the mentions of sexually intimate acts towards each other. The organization understands that comments of this nature are oftentimes intended as lighthearted, but expects its members to clarify consent to these comments before making them. Any reports of sexual misconduct by a member may result in immediate dismissal from their position. If a member of the organization, or external person(s) feel they are a victim of sexual harassment or misconduct please contact Trevor Priesel immediately. A thorough investigation into the parties accused will be conducted. 

Chain of Command

New Castle Prism Initiative and any individual members of the organization agree to the established chain-of-command within the organization. Coordinators will not go against the direct orders of their directors, unless doing so establishes a safety risk or risk to the well being of the organization. If you believe an instruction will do either of these things, please report this to Trevor Priesel immediately. All Coordinators are encouraged to bring their ideas to their Directors for approval. Directors agree to speak with other Directors when making decisions that will affect the organization.

Competing Organizations

New Castle Prism Initiative encourages all person(s) internal or external to be committed to the well-being and good of the community. New Castle Prism Initiative acknowledges that members have other time commitments, possibly to competing organizations. New Castle Prism Initiative allows these commitments to competing organizations, within reason, as long as the party(s) involved are not exploiting the access to the organization's inner workings or breaking Privacy Expectation policy(s)

Privacy Expectations

Internal: All members of New Castle Prism Initiative acknowledge they are witness to internal information(s) including but not limited to: the organization's structure, events, challenges, and monetary decisions. All members are expected to keep the nature of the organization’s inner workings confidential. Any member who is found publicly or privately discussing the organization in a way that puts the organization at any risk will be terminated at the discretion of the organization’s president. The New Castle Prism Initiative understands that individual members may want to discuss on-goings with friends or peers, but we discourage members from doing so in a way that puts the organization at risk. The New Castle Prism Initiative defines “at risk” as: any threat to the organization’s social, monetary, or physical well-being.

External: All Members of New Castle Prism Initiative acknowledge they are privy to the personal and private information of members of the community. All members of the organization pledge their commitment to the confidentiality of those we serve. There will be no discussion of the clientele's personal information to anyone outside the organization. This is included but not limited to information such as: legal name, chosen name, protected identity(s), monetary situation, personal effects, personal discretions, and views held by the individual.

New Castle Prism Cares Policy (The Golden Rule)

New Castle Prism Initiative and all affiliates are committed to the well-being and good of the community. New Castle Prism Initiative and all affiliates are committed to doing no harm unto others. Treat others with the respect they deserve. Under no instance should a member nor the organization itself be found misaligned with the commitment to the well being of any individual or group within the local community. Any members found harming other members of the community will be asked to step away from their position immediately. “Harming” may include but is not limited to: stalking, threats, violation of privacy, bullying, gossiping, and/or disturbing the peace.

*Any change to these policies will be shared with any and all members of the organization to review.
